When I left SEMO, I taught high school in Eureka, Mo until May '69 when I got my draft notice. I was inducted in July '69, VietNam July '70 (101st, 2/501st Infantry, Mike Sabo was there with me and was wounded. Ron Harris, David Beeson, Wally Winkler, and Hal Walker were also there). I came home with all parts God gave me in May '71 and taught school for two more years in Eureka. I married in '72 which lasted for 21 years. I then went to dental school with Bob Fox and Steve Roth at UMKC from '73-'77 and then back into the Army '77 due to an obligation with a military scholarship, and stayed for a career until Sept '99. I retired as COL with all sorts of fun along the way. I was divorced in 93 and then remarried. I currently have two children and two stepchildren, all of whom are in school and/or working and my wonderful wife, Deborah, and I are here in Germany with our dog, Dennis, having fun in the later years of my life. I am an orthodontist working under a contract with the Dept of Defense, making a good salary without the headaches of a private orthodontic practice, and enjoying the opportunity to travel. I'm going to Tennerife, Canary Islands, tomorrow for a week. It is warm there. We really do travel quite a bit. We plan to stay as long as the contract holds, which will probably be past the time I am eligible for Medicare. Having a great time, and orthodontics is my hobby as well as my profession. I love what I am doing, making beautiful smiles which last for a lifetime. Awesome!!

Charles (Billy Beans) Myers

After graduation from SEMO in 1967, I taught and coached for 2 years at Holcomb and then went into the Air Force for 3 years, 9 months, and 28 days. After the Air Force, I reentered the education field as a teacher and coach in Southwest Missouri. I returned to Southeast Missouri area in 1975 to coach and teach in my hometown of Oak Ridge. I taught there for five years and then went to Advance as basketball coach and high school counselor for two years. I then entered the educational administrative field as a principal at Oran High School. After I had earned my Eds from SEMO, I went to East Prairie as an assistant superintendent with Brother Steve Hodges being one of the school board members during my tenure at EP. I have served the last 12 years as a high school principal in Bloomfield and Willow Springs, MO. I retired from the "hustle and bustle" of the high school principal in July 1, 2002. Currently, I am working halftime at Willow Springs as the A+ coordinator with some additional administrative and counseling duties.

I married Greta Miller on March 8th, 1969 and we have 3 daughters and two grandchildren. Greta is a high school counselor in Mountain Grove, MO. Celeste (31) is in Cape and has returned to SEMO this fall, Jessica (22) is in Kansas City, MO where she teaches private piano lessons and hopes to return to UMKC to work on her Master's in piano performance next fall. Kirsten (20) is a junior at Comell University where she is majoring in environment engineering.

Billy Beans added,"I am not sure that you and many others knew my first name was Charles during our SEMO days. I have been nicknamed Bill most of my life, but in the PIKE house I was better known as Billy Beans."
