Joe Smith
Then...! Now...!
Joe (the Hood) Smith

This is a "wonderful photo" I took of myself after a recent gig. Ha, ha!
I taught music a couple of years after my amazing graduation from SEMO - Then good ole Uncle Sam came calling. I escaped Nam to march on countless cobblestone streets in back-water towns all over Europe. My daughter Jenny was born in Germany and lives here in Minneapolis. I have been active in the music and arts scene here since 71 and have been fortunate to have performed in many venues from the Minnesota Orchestra to the "seediest" of jazz clubs with some fabulous musicians/poets/artists and dancers (and some even more pathetic than I). I am proud of the grants and awards I have received - but - not as proud as I was to ride in to the football games with you brothers on the fire truck. Love you all like "Brothers"!!!!! [Deeply saddened to learn of our departed brothers and cherish their memory].
